Urban Aboriginal Working Group (UAWG)

 

The Urban Aboriginal Working Group (UAWG) is a standing committee of PGNAETA.  The UAWG consists of representatives nominated by their respective Urban Aboriginal organizations that have in-depth knowledge of local priorities, sectors, and systems.  The UAWG exercises strategic planning and decision-making authority in partnership with PGNAETA as the Community Entity.

For the purpose of the Reaching Home program the Urban Aboriginal Working Group:

  • Are representative of the community.
  • Develop and implement an engagement strategy for achieving extensive and inclusive representation.
  • Foster partnerships within the sectors and systems working to end homelessness.
  • Advises the direction of work within the local community to ensure that work aligns with the direction of the province.
  • Help develop the Community Plan, a clear strategy to match goals with investments.
  • Assist the Community Entity to incorporate the Coordinated Access system, a data collection and case management system, HIFIS, and an Outcomes-based approach to prevent and reduce homelessness.
  • Contribute to the review and approval of the Community Homelessness Report.
  • Participate in the formal assessment process for funding applications and recommend projects for funding to the Community Entity.
