Lack of Affordable Housing

The Community Bridge to Housing First Program is an essential service in Williams Lake, addressing housing instability, financial hardship, and mental health challenges in the community.  Despite the challenges of a limited housing market, we are seeing continued success through strong partnerships, financial support, and individualized case management.  Although we cannot financially assist everyone that applies for the Housing First Program and not everyone is able to rent a unit due to their historical renting record, we are able to assist a lot of people in our community with options that may benefit them.

We have been providing tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and tarps for those who have not been able to find a place and the City of Williams Lake have provided an area in Boitanio Park that allows individuals to set up their tents between the hours of 7 pm- 7 am.  Luckily, our organization received some funding that assisted with the camping equipment.  We have assisted a few others with emergency funding.

The Community Bridge to Housing First Program is so grateful for the support, we deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our funders and partners—together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.  The program works with other departments within Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), that applies for grants to assist the clients that come through our doors.

The PGNAETA Reaching Home Division are honoured to work, live and play on the unceded traditional and ancestral territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.
