Carrier Sekani family Services (CSFS) Food Security project assists individuals and families by providing access to quality foods available for their pantry and deep freezer. By providing access to nutritious foods, individuals and families can allocate their funds to cover other essential expenses like rent, utilities and more. Many clients are grateful for receiving the hampers during financial difficulties as this helps stabilize their situation and address their finances. This support also reduces the risk of falling into debt or homelessness. Our Food Pantry program also provides extra nutritious foods to the unhoused population in PG, supporting their efforts to lead healthier lives overall.
For the month of April, we distributed thirty food hampers to clients at risk of homelessness and thirty-five Outreach food hampers to clients who are homeless. In the month of May, we distributed seventeen food hampers to clients who are at risk of homelessness and twenty-five Outreach food hampers to clients who are homeless. In June, we distributed thirty food hampers to clients at risk of homelessness and twenty-three Outreach food hampers to clients who are homeless. We have 160 participants who are all provided information regarding additional food resources in Prince George (PG). Many clients provided feedback that consists of how grateful they are to have food on the table for their families because the rising price of groceries is making it very difficult. They also express gratitude for the variety of food available in the food hampers.
