Tofino Legion and District of Ucluelet have continued to have their Food Banks open; there we bolster the community with additional support and services and continue to collaborate with both Districts in distributing food hampers. We have connected with the remote Indigenous communities of Ditidaht, Opitsaht, Ty-Histanis, Esowista, Hitacu and Macoah and have successfully delivered over a thousand pounds of fresh produce and essentials that we distribute to indigenous families throughout all those communities monthly. We continue to assist individuals and families with housing emergencies and continually promote our outreach services and indigenous cultural information throughout both districts.
The workshops we provide are developed to promote our outreach services and educate the community on the Nuu-chah-nulth culture in both districts of Tofino and Ucluelet. Additionally, we assist clients in connecting to other resources by providing a wraparound service. KUU-US West Coast Community Outreach workers continue to work towards connecting to remote indigenous communities providing fresh food and educational material on budgeting and meal prep. As well as promoting cultural information, connecting services and offering emotional support while meeting each client where they are at.
The PGNAETA Reaching Home Division are honoured to work, live and play on the unceded traditional and ancestral territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.
