Even though a rental space has not been found for the Welcome Centre, our Homelessness Prevention Project (HPP) team has decided it is important to still offer the services. Through our prevention and shelter diversion services 46 clients received rental subsidies which kept them in stable housing. Newly housed clients received housing kits to ease their transition. HPP took on the responsibility of issuing 177 laundry and 112 shower tickets to our vulnerable clients who have no access of their own. When clients come in to access this service HPP will have a casual chat to see where each client is at and to offer any additional wrap around services if the client is interested.
Wrap around services can be outreach Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) services, mental health counseling, addiction services, food services such as Salvation army, Soup Kitchens, and even just asking them if they are ok and do they need medical help. Have completed intakes with 57 clients who want to access laundry and Shower tickets. The team has updated forms and created clearer communication tools to help participants grasp the program’s objectives. We aided 2 seniors understand, navigate, and complete the Shelter Aid For Elderly Renters (SAFER) applications effectively. And 20 clients accessed counselling sessions through our client support services.
